Martii is also one of my favorites from season 1 of the Making the Band 3 that I’m bias towards. However, it ain’t like she’s been doing nothing since her time onn the show ended. She’s been quite the busy body and we were fortunate to catch her for a Bastardly Interview. Check out her official website for the latest news, more sexy pictures, and listen to some hot tracks on her Myspace page. I wanted to get her persepctive of the show and I learned that Diddy won’t hold Martii down from driving towards her ultimate goal.

When did you first realize, “Damn, I CAN SING…and DANCE…and I’M HOT TOO!?

When I was 13 and I auditioned in NY for Walt Disney. When I was 1 out of 2,000 kids chosen to be a part of a Walt Disney series is when I knew I wasn’t the average kid.

I imagine you get your inspiration from somewhere. Do you have a certain vocalist/performer you use as a role model?

My vocal role model varies. I appreciate different vocalist in different ways. What I have in my car right now is either Keisha Cole, Alicia Keys, or (Spanish artist) La INDIA..

Performing on the other hand is a whole different topic. Madonna, Kanye West, J.LO, and most recently Omarion are good influences. But Janet Jackson is my sh**!!!! I love her!

How would you best describe the style of your music? Who are some producers and artists that you’d love to work with in the future?

It’s kind of hard describing my new music. People’s judgment leads it towards Ciara and J.LO. But 50 and Daddy Yankee could be rapping on it too. So its kind of hard to label it. I would love to work with Pharrell, J.Lo, Emilio Esteves, Alicia Keys, and and not to sound cheezy but I’ve always looked up to Diddy as well.

What were your expectations going into Making the Band 3? Didn’t you see Making the Band 2 with “Da Band???!?! We know how that story ended!!!

My expectations going into MTB3 were obviously to “MAKE THE BAND” but most important to show the world that I do have what it takes to be successful in the music industry. That I can dance my ass off, I can sing and what I have to offer isn’t that easy to find. And that I do have the passion to be in this industry REGARDLESS what anybody says. I know last MTB was a total flop but hey I refused to judge my future according to what didn’t work out with the last band, so I gave it shot. You can’t deny true talent and that’s what I wanted to show the world and I succeeded!

So what have you been doing since the season finale aired back in May? Have you been consistently performing or in the studio? Making appearances?

I got back into my recording studio, THA BANK PRODUCTIONZ, and recorded some new hot music with my brother/producer DNERO and engineer NASTY. I performed for the amazing Hawaiian Tropic event, which I was also a state finalist in. I’m working on a movie right now that I can’t talk about much. Did guest appearances on radio interviews for Jamn 94.5 and Hot 97.7. I was also involved in a benefit performance for Hurricane Katrina that I was honored to be a part of. A finalist on Spanish American Idol. Last week I was on WB’s Elimidate, which will be extremely funny once it airs! And currently proud to say that I am an NBA Boston Celtics dancer with dance company Phunk Phenomenon.

I recall you saying on the season finale how it was a great experience, you’d do it all again, etc.…okay, let’s be real here, you’re not in front of the camera now, you can vent out whatever you want…is that really true???

Hey! No fake chick here!! I really meant it, “I would do it all over again because nobody can take your dream from you”. No Diddy, No nobody! I do what I do because its my passion not because somebody forces me to do it. So if it took me dancing all over again, LET’S DANCE! If it took me getting in shape and running, LET’S RUN! That simply because I love it, no other reason but that.

From your experience, what did you learn from being around Diddy and his team that you have taken into your current projects and your everyday life?

There were pros and cons to this experience. We can focus on the pros of course. I learned its hard work. I learned that if you don’t eat, breath, and sleep your craft you might break. I learned that you must never let the evil eye watch you sweat, not even for a second. I learned that its very easy to doubt yourself but you just got to keep believing in who you are!
